Nomedia is a media scanner and file management app that gives you complete control over which folders appear in your Gallery, Music Player, Video Player, and other media apps on Android.

Take charge of your device's media library by creating or removing .nomedia files—invisible system files that tell Android's media scanner to ignore specific folders and their contents. If your Gallery is cluttered with screenshots, cache images, or files you don't want to see, or if your Music Player keeps loading audio you'd rather hide, Nomedia solves this problem instantly. Simply toggle folders "ON" to hide their media, or "OFF" to show them again. The app refreshes MediaStore immediately, so changes take effect right away.

Nomedia works in two convenient modes to suit your workflow. File browser mode provides an advanced file manager experience for users who need more detailed control and exploration of their device's directory structure. Both modes let you scan and categorize all your photos, videos, and audio files by folder, making it easy to identify exactly which directories need hiding.

The built-in media scanner automatically discovers all media files on your device, including those not yet registered in the system media store. On Android 11 and above, you'll need to manually add folders you want to scan, giving you precise control over what gets indexed. This flexibility means you can target just the folders causing clutter without affecting your entire device.

Nomedia is ideal if you accumulate redundant or unwanted media files—whether from app caches, temporary downloads, or personal folders you'd prefer to keep private from your media apps. It's not a privacy or file-hiding tool in the traditional sense, as files remain visible in standard file manager apps; rather, it cleanly removes media from appearing in apps that rely on Android's MediaStore system.
